Political Bullshit
Written on Mar 20

In normal cases, I wouldn't even fathom writing about the impending war between the United States and Iraq, but considering so many of my anti-establishment comrades have commented about it, I thought I'd atleast explain my views. I'm constantly bombarded with questions pertaining to my opinions and feelings about this "inevitable war", so I might as well spill my guts. Here it goes:

This -war- is bullshit. The government is bullshit. And most importantly, the people leading this country are full of bullshit. Don't get me wrong, I love America. I'm as patriotic as the next guy. I wave my flags proudly and always declare my citizenship with a gentle smug. But I will never, EVER, be a moral supporter of this government or the current political regime. However, I will ALWAYS be a supporter of the people that inhabit this beautiful country. As Eminem said, "I'm all for America, fuck the government".

I feel that war should only be declared against another country for two reasons: 1) To protect and DEFEND the freedoms and liberties of the United States of America 2) To assist in removing tyrannical dictators responsible for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

BUSH AND DADDY VS. THE EVIL IRAQI DICTATOR.

Is Saddam Hussein guilty of the latter? Yes he is. But there are quite a few other countries in the world that are dominated by megalomaniacs like Saddam, yet the UN and United States take a hands off approach to those countries. Many nations in Africa are going through horrendous civil wars. Terrorist warlords are still occupying Afghanistan and neighboring countries and organized crime leaders in Serbia are running rampant terrorizing the helpless civilians. So where does the USA stand regarding those injustices?

Bush is focusing on Saddam Hussein. President Bush told the public that it's because Iraq has "weapons of mass destruction". Well DUH, Iraq has alot of fucking enemies. They need something to protect themselves. Guess who else has "weapons of mass destruction": Pakistan, India, Yemen, Iran, North Korea, and countless other Eastern countries. How come they aren't asked to disarm? Hell, North Korea is refusing to disarm their nuclear weapons and basically told us to fuck off, but we sure as hell aren't inciting a war with them.

"AMERICA THE SUPERPOWER" or "AMERICA THE BULLY"

This whole war comes down to Bush, his daddy, and oil. George Bush Sr. wasn't able to oust Saddam and now little Bush feels compelled to finish the job. Realizing this, Saddam began restricting the only precious resource he has, oil. Now all the hard-working Americans have to pay over $2 a gallon for gas. This makes us all angry and motivated to do something about it. If you look between the lines, this is modern day propaganda -- normal Americans who would usually object to a war are now more prone to side with war so they can pay less money for gas. When America topples Saddam, we will be more able to regulate the distribution of Iraqi oil, thus decreasing the gas prices for hard-working Americans. This is objectional imperialism.

The United States is a world super-power. The government knows this and uses that as leverage whenever possible. We have more weapons of mass destruction than any country in the world, but who is going to police us? We are always above the law. The United Nations doesn't have shit on us. That's why there is so much anti-American sentiment in the Arab nations. We are the big bullies of the West. We do whatever we want and nobody will tell us otherwise. We always think we're the good guys and have the world's best interest(s) at heart, even if it's clear that we don't have anybody's best interest at heart but our own.

POLITICIANS ARE BULLSHIT.

People in foreign countries often see politicians and smooth talking media reporters and think all Americans are just like them, which is completely untrue. People like George Bush and Dick Cheney don't represent the people. They have been middle to upper class their entire lives. They've always had things provided for them. They don't know the first thing about hard-working Americans. They don't live in the ghettos. They don't go to work with the fear of getting fired and losing everything. They don't know what it's like to not know where your next meal is coming from. Yet these same pieces of shit politicians take our tax dollars and make decisions on behalf of us? No fucking thanks. I can easily protect myself and I'd much rather give my hard earned money to charity then support the government. Didn't the colonial Americans split from Britain 300 years ago because of the King and his tyrannical-ruling government body? How is that different from what is happening today?

Politicians are two-faced bullshit talkers. Everything they utter is two-sided bullshit talk. President Bush should have just got on TV and said, "My dad didn't kill Saddam, so I'm going to do it right this time. This whole war is about oil, so we are going to knock off Saddam, then regulate Iraqi oil. That way we can instill our own democratic-government ideologies and seize all Saddam's big weapons so that country will never be a threat to us again. There might be alot of civilian casualties, but that's ok because we'll be paying less money for oil and gas now." I still don't understand why people can't be clear about their intentions, especially the President of the world's foremost superpower. Then again, if Bush did say all of that, I guess he wouldn't be a politician. Politics is synonymous with bullshit.

In retrospect, do I agree with this entire "war"? No, not really. I don't mind paying the extra couple bucks for gas and oil. It's not like my opinion matters anyway; I'm just a citizen, what rights do I have?
